There are two theories when it comes to contagious diseases; Germ theory and Terrain theory. Germ theory proposes that germs cause disease. Terrain theory is a more holistic approach and suggests that one's terrain, ie. the individual's body, state of mind and environment creates a terrain that is either resistant to disease or fertile for disease.
